Scanstead, Trusso, and ContractorOS: how the pieces fit

We get asked this often enough to write it down: Scanstead is one app in a small family of tools for contractors, and the overlap is not obvious from the outside.

Scanstead measures the building

LiDAR room scanning on iPhone and iPad Pro. Walk the house, get dimensioned floor plans, wall and floor areas, measured openings, voice notes pinned to locations, and a 3D model you can export or share. It stands entirely on its own — if measuring is what you need, Scanstead is the whole answer, available on the App Store with a free 7-day trial.

Trusso prices the work

Our estimating tool for contractors. It takes quantities and turns them into priced proposals with your rates, your markups, and your templates. Separate product, separate purpose — one measures, the other costs.

ContractorOS is the bundle

The full stack for running the business, and a ContractorOS subscription includes Scanstead access. If you already subscribe to ContractorOS, you do not need to buy Scanstead separately — sign in and it is there.

The reverse is not true: a Scanstead subscription is Scanstead. It is a standalone app for people who want the measuring tool and nothing else, which is a perfectly good thing to want.

Which should you get

  • Just need to measure? Scanstead, standalone.
  • Already on ContractorOS? You have Scanstead. Sign in with the same account.
  • Want measuring and estimating together? ContractorOS.

Sign-in and devices

One account across the tools. Scanstead needs a LiDAR device to capture — iPhone 12 Pro or newer Pro models, iPad Pro 2020 and later. On a non-LiDAR iPad you can still open, view, and measure scans sent from the field, which is how most offices use it.

Measure, price, run the business. Three jobs, and you only pay for the ones you are doing.
